Joanne Lee
Hi, I’m Joanne and I am a registered Oral Health Therapist. I grew up in Malaysia and moved to Christchurch when I was 17. In 2014, I graduated from University of Otago with a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Infection and Immunity) and a Bachelor of Oral Health. Prior to joining the team at Sydenham, I worked for Canterbury DHB and a private practice in Ashburton for 7 years. My passion for improving oral health has led me to organise numerous oral health programmes in the community. I am also in the process of finishing a Master of Health Sciences aimed at improving oral health of adolescents across Canterbury.
A large part of my day at Sydenham Dental involves the prevention and treatment of periodontal (gum and jawbone) disease. As someone who experienced dental anxiety as a child, I strive to be as kind and patient as possible while providing high quality care. I am excited to build long-lasting relationships with my patients and serve their dental needs with gentle hands. My goal is to ensure that each patient leaves with an exceptionally comfortable experience and feeling empowered in maintaining their oral health. My qualifications also allow me to provide whitening treatment, construct mouthguards, provide dental hygiene treatment under intravenous sedation, and provide dental care for children aged18 and under.
Outside of work, I am often learning new things to better myself as an Oral Health Therapist. I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as travelling and meeting new people. I also have a penchant for painting, reading, video games and going to the gym.
