Dr Chamil Samaranayaka
Chamil is the principal dentist at Sydenham Dental Centre and he is one of the co-owners of the practice. He is dual qualified in both medicine and dentistry from University of Otago. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2007, Chamil has worked as a dentist in hospital and private practice settings for the last 16 years. While working at Sydenham Dental Centre, Chamil is also employed at Christchurch Public Hospital as a senior dentist.
He completed his medical degree in 2015. With his medical background, he has worked at Christchurch Public Hospital under various medical and surgical disciplines. He has also served as an Oral and Maxillofacial registrar at Christchurch Hospital treating facial trauma, infections and oral pathology. Chamil enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in oral surgery.
Chamil keeps up to date by attending conferences and meetings. He has completed the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Primary examination with distinctions and has published research articles related to various aspects of dentistry and medicine in national and international journals. Chamil has completed the intravenous sedation course for dentists run by NZSSD. He is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association as well as the New Zealand Resident Doctors Association.
Chamil is married with three young boys. He enjoys spending his spare time with his family.
